As well as being a sustainability academic, I run the Green Stories project. Our goal is to embed climate policies and sustainable values and practices in books, plays etc. aimed at mainstream audiences as a way to move beyond preaching to the choir.
We’re launching a new novel via the crowdfunding platform, Kickstarter: [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dabaden/murder-in-the-climate-assembly.] It follows a moral philosopher who uses a case study of a murder in a climate assembly as a basis for her course. It sets out in fictional form a roadmap to a sustainable future. Additional funds will go towards funding a new free Green Stories competition.
The script version won the 2024 Writing Climate Pitchfest and there is also an associated play which we’re keen for theatre groups to stage.
If you like novels, please pledge, and I’d be very grateful if you’d share details with anyone else who likes contemporary fiction/whodunnits/philosophy/climate fiction or campus novels.
I have a one-minute video for those who are unfamiliar with how crowdfunding works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPKPIV4eFHU – but really it’s just a way to get an early copy of the book (£4 for an eBook etc.), and useful for getting advance reviews etc.
